Our curriculum stimulates and grows to your child’s mind from 3 months – 6 years.

Our school fees are divided over a 12 month period, tuition includes all meals and stationery. We are open during school holidays.

All staff are trained and are super sheros. We adapt our learning and environment to your little one/s individual learning needs.

We have an app we use to communicate with the teacher and parent directly.

We have a modern, wholistic approach and VAKT learning styles.

We are registered, have CCTV cameras and have been operating successfully for almost 14 years. Mismo Edu Centre is oneofakind school filled with lots of love and the Lord.

1.1 Latest drop off time: 8:00 am
Teaching is in process and its disruptive for the other learners when the class is interrupted.

Please advise the teacher if your child will be absent for the day by: 8:00 am

Notify the school immediately in advance if someone else will collect your child. Management will provide you with a password.
Please note that, at Mismo Edu Centre, we put your child’s best interest first.
Therefore, as a safety precaution, we will not hand your child over to any other person than the person(s) stated on the school contract. No child will be handed over without this password being given to the staff.

We have a strict drop your child outside of the building policy until further notice, for the safety and security of the children we don’t allow unauthorized and unattended access of person(s) inside the classrooms and children’s toilets.

Parents are to please walk their children from the car, up to the front door (vice versa) daily to ensure they are safely on the school premises.

The parking lot is a public space. Please always park considerately. Drive cautiously and in the correct direction. Always ensure your vehicle is locked.

Keep valuables at home to minimize the possibility of car theft.

No verbal messages to be given to staff on duty. Please send a message via the Umbilically App to the teacher.

2.1 Comfortable footwear to be worn daily to school. This allows free and stable movement for your child’s beneficial development.

From 12 months onwards children are encouraged to walk into school carrying their own bag to create a positive selfesteem and independence.

A set daily routine and time schedule at home is important to establish with your child.

Mismo Edu Centre will not be held liable for any damaged or lost clothes, medication etc.

4.1 We have a different theme each week from Monday -Friday.
4.2 The theme and curriculum is on the Umbilically App.

No electronics and/or battery-operated devices (which include, but is not limited to
tablets, cell phones, leapfrog products etc.) may be sent to school at any time.
4.6 Mismo Edu Centre will not be held liable for any damaged or lost devices, or toys etc.
4.7 Termly reports are sent via email at the end of each term from 12 months onwards
4.8 Occupational therapy or speech therapy assessment is available throughout the year at
the parents’ extra cost.

5.1 Toilet training starts in our Green and Orange class which is 2 years old turning 3 years old
in the same year.
5.2 Parents in the toilet training class, will be notified by the class teacher, when she identifies
the child showing signs that they are ready to be toilet trained.
5.3 Toilet training is a team effort and parents co-operation from home is vital.
5.4 We toilet train with pull ups only.
5.5 4-5 pull ups to be sent per day.
5.6 2-3 sets of Spare clothing and underwear to remain in the school bag
5.7 Soiled and dirty clothing will be sent home in a plastic packet and tied to the outside of the
school bag.
5.8 No washing of clothing will be done at school.
5.9 2 packets of wet wipes to be sent by the 7th of every month (for sensitive skin and 60 wipes
per packet)
5.10 1 packet required for the 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6 year old class (for sensitive skin and 60 wipes
per packet)

10.1 Official operating hours: Strictly 6:45 am 5:30 pm, Monday Friday.

We are closed: All public holidays, a school holiday e.g., the day before or after a public holiday. 15 consecutive working days over December and January

Parents will be notified the beginning of the year: When Mismo Edu Centre closes for the 15 consecutive working days period.

Messages, emails etc. will only be responded to during operating hours.

Parents responsibility to contact the school if they know they are running late and are unable to collect their children by 1:00 pm (half day) or 5:30 pm (full day). The school needs to be contacted by 12:30 pm (half day) or 5:00 pm (full day) to make urgent staff
arrangements.
The staff work in shifts and therefore may not work later than the school’s closing time.

Please communicate with other family members if you are working late or stuck in traffic to ensure the whereabouts of your child, if they have been collected or still at school.

Umbilically App needs to be checked regularly to see the days the school is closed.

11.1 A parent may view the school by appointment only and be shown through by management

This is for the security, protection, and wellbeing of the children. We are not comfortable with strangers having access to the children throughout the day.

A quick message to the teacher(s) may be written in the Umbilically App. This is checked daily by the teacher(s) and the message conveyed to the necessary parties.

Parents may create their child’s personal profile which allows updated general accessible

The children’s safety is the teacher’s top priority; therefore, messages might not always be
responded to immediately.

Loadshedding may affect the App.

16.1 Any general queries or concerns you may have about your child must first be addressed with your child’s teacher.
16.2
A message may be sent to the class teacher via the Umbilically App.
16.3
You are welcome to set up a meeting or a suitable time to give her a call.
16.4
If the matter could not be resolved, you may request to address it with the Manager.
16.5
If the matter is not resolved, it will be escalated to the principal and owner(s).
16.6
Please do not give the staff on duty downstairs any verbal messages to relay in the mornings.

It is against our policy to disclose any staff members personal contact information.

17.1 Hair must be washed regularly and kept free of nits and lice.
17.2
If nits or lice are found, children will be sent home.

Check your child’s hair regularly.
17.4
Hair needs to be always kept out of child’s eyes.

18.1 Children who are unwell need to be kept at home.
18.2 This will prevent teachers and other children from being affected and causing more absenteeism.
18.3 This includes a headache, temperature, vomiting, a runny stomach, or any type of pain, pink eyes, possible chicken pox, measles, covid etc.
18.4 The onus is on the parent to contact the school/class teacher and inform of his/her child’s absence by 8 am.

19.1 Positive daily affirmations and encouragement is part of our curriculum.
19.2 Children are encouraged to explore their own independence and learn about their place in our community.
19.3 Our school rules and classroom rules are taught and practised daily
19.4 Should any school rule be transgressed, the child will be called to one side and be spoken to.
19.5 Parents are informed if this continues and hinders the other children’s learning.
19.6 A meeting with parents and a plan of action to be carried out especially in a case of persistent unacceptable behaviour that needs urgent rectifying.
19.7 Biting is a form of a child’s communication. Children bite often from 12 – 24 months as their language has not fully developed. This is often the first reaction to a situation where the emotional intelligence is still developing, and rationalization is in the process of developing.
19.8 Harmful or inappropriate behaviour is stopped by a Teacher or Assistant.
19.9 Problem solving skills are encouraged.
19.10 Mutual respectable behaviour towards friends and class teachers/assistants is a norm standard practise
19.11 We have an emotions section in our classrooms which allows and teaches self-regulation.

20.1 Biting is a form of some children’s communication and is common from 12-24 months as some children’s language is not yet fully developed.
20.2 Babies and toddlers bite for a variety of reasons, such as teething or exploring a new toy or object with their mouth. As they begin to understand cause-and-effect, they also might bite a person/child to see if they can get a reaction.
20.3 Children are continuously monitored and not all bites can be prevented and stopped in time.
20.4 An incident report will be sent to parents
20.5 The parents of the children involved are informed of the incident

21.1 In order to provide our children and staff with the positive and safe learning environment that they need and deserve, everyone at Mismo Edu Centre is expected to follow a code of conduct.
21.2 Our children are expected to follow the classroom behaviour guidelines and routines.
21.3 All children and parents to be courteous, respectful, and tolerant towards other attending children, Mismo staff and any other extra mural facilitators.
21.4 It is expected to use appropriate language and behaviour when dealing with other children and staff at school.
21.5 Bullying and or intimidation towards the staff is unacceptable and inappropriate behaviour.
21.6 Children and parents must respect the rights and property of others.
21.7 Physical and verbal abuse is not tolerated at Mismo. Any child or parent who physical harms a teacher, verbally abuses, or uses any form of intimidation will not be permitted to continue at Mismo with immediate effect.
21.8 Mismo promotes a school environment where respect, courtesy and cooperation are the cornerstone of our educational philosophy.
21.9 Mismo Edu Centre is a family community, our community consists of Edu Care students in training, teachers, assistants, a cook a cleaner, administrative staff and parents whose common goal is to provide the best secure educational and loving environment to every
child in an uplifting, encouraging, positive, safe learning and an exciting environment.

21.10 Mismo is committed to following the National children’s Act.
21.11 These basic school rules as set out in the prospectus, must be always adhered to.

22.1 A non-refundable admin fee of R890 will be applicable on submission of admission form. R890 for 2023.
22.2 Please e-mail proof of payment to account@mismoeducentre.co.za
22.3 Applications will not be processed unless this fee and all relevant documentation has been received.
22.4 Kindly be advised that December is not optional, but a compulsory month.
22.5 Full day fees (baby care 3-12 months) are R3300 per month for 2022 and R3450 per month for 2023.
22.6 Half day fees are (baby care 3-12 months) R2900 per month for 2022 and R3150 per month for 2023.
22.7 Full day fees are R3100 per month for 2022 and R3250 per month for 2023

22.9 Occupational Therapy Assessment Fee is included in the admin fee upon enrolment.
22.10 Fees are calculated over a 12-month period, January – December.
22.11 7 days of outstanding fees will unfortunately lead to the child being expelled from Mismo Edu Centre as we cannot afford subsidization.
22.12 School fees are to be paid in advance and reflect in the schools account by the 1st of every month.
22.13 Reference used for school fees Childs name and surname.
22.14 No form of cash will be accepted, only EFT’s.
22.15 Mismo is registered with a debt collecting company.
22.16 The account holder is informed of fee payments when signing the contract.
22.17 Contact needs to be made by the account holder before the 30th if a delay has occurred with fee payment.
22.18 Mismo Edu Centre’s payment of monthly fees is not subjected to presentation of a
statement/invoice. Payments are made in accordance with the applicable fee structure of
the school.
22.19 The monthly invoice will be sent to both parents via email.
22.20 Mismo Edu Centre reserves the right to give no discount or refunds ever in a case where the child has been absent.
22.21 All accounts in arrears will be handed over to the debt collecting company by Mismo Edu Centre’s accountant the 7th of the month. In this event the account holder will be held
liable for the debt collecting company’s cost and the late collection fee.
22.22 Sibling discount is R100 off per child. This is only applicable when the siblings are attending
Mismo Baby Care and Mismo Edu Care. R150 per child in 2023.
22.23 An annual increase will be applicable as of 1 January every year.
22.24 R140 charge fee will be added to your account deposits made.

Late pick up collection penalties:
22.26 Half day: 30 minutes or part there of: R40 (this applies from 1:00 pm until 1:30pm)
22.27 Half day: 30 minutes or part there of: R100 (this applies from 1:30 pm until collected)
22.28 Full day: 30 minutes or part there of: R40 (this applies until 6:00 pm)
22.29 Full day: 30 minutes or part there of: R100 (This applies from 6:00 pm until collected)
22.30 The late collection penalty will be indicated on your monthly invoice.

23.1 All meals and snacks are included in the school fees
23.2 The menu is available on the Umbilically App
23.3 Breakfast is at 8 am. Breakfast will not be served after 8.30 am
23.4 Fruit or a birthday party is at 10 am in the mornings
23.5 A birthday party will replace the 10 am fruit snack

24.1 Birthday parties at school will be held at 10 am.
24.2 Birthday party goodies delivered on the day of the party no later than 9 am.
24.3 Cupcakes is preferred.
24.4 A candle or sparkler may be sent from home.
24.5 Photos will be taken by class teacher and sent via WhatsApp if consent is given from parent.
24.6 A birthday crown will be made by the teacher.
24.7 Party packets are sent home with each learner and not eaten at school.

25.1 At Mismo Edu Centre we encourage children to be weaned off the pacifier and teat bottle at 12 months as this can be detrimental to the development of your child’s speech, teeth and gums. PLEASE NOTE: No pacifiers and/or teat bottles are allowed to be sent to school unless your child is in the Gold Class (3 – 12 months).

27.1 Mismo Edu Centre will not be held responsible for washing any clothes that have been messed on and/or messed in throughout the day.
27.2 Urinated, vomited or soiled clothing will be sent home in a plastic packet tied to the outside of the school bag.
27.3 Parents will be notified via the Umbilically App

28.1 Extra mural activities are offered at Mismo Edu Centre
28.2 Swimmatix children are collected from Mismo and taken to their swimming school
28.3 Extra murals offered at Mismo are available on the Umbilically App.
28.4 Extra murals are outsourced, therefor contact them directly.
28.5 The correct dress code is required for extra mural activities.

29.1 Parents will be contacted immediately when a child starts a fever to collect their child.
29.2 Children who are unwell need to be kept at home.
29.3 We do not have the facility to take care of sick children.
29.4 This will prevent teachers and other children from being affected and causing more absenteeism.
29.5 Medication that your child needs to receive at school needs to be completed on the Umbilically App daily.
29.6 Medication will not be administered if it’s not completed on the Umbilically App.
29.7 Medication needs to marked with the child’s name and sent to school in a packet.
29.8 Written consent, via online medication form on Umbilically, will be required in order to give a child some form of medication to get the fever down.

30.1 An assessment with an occupational therapist is recommended a minimum of every 6 months to ensure your child’s development is on par for their age.
30.2 6-month general check-up is recommended by a paediatrician.
30.3 A hearing check up with an audiologist is recommended at
birth,
1 year
3 years
5 years 1 to alleviate any possibilities of hearing concerns/delays.
30.4 A yearly check up with a speech therapist is recommended.
30.5 6 monthly check-up is recommended for a dentist check-up.
30.6 Eye test by an optometrist is recommended:

5 -6 years
30.7 All immunizations are to be kept up to date.
30.8 The clinic book needs to be kept in a safe place.

31.1 Attending an educare centre, your child is now exposed to many more external influences, languages, cultures, experiences, and mannerisms.
31.2 It is part of your child’s natural development to imitate others behaviour.
Its part of the child’s imagination and language development to tell stories at home of events that occurred at school.
Sometimes we are not aware of the ‘tales’ being carried within groups of children, so please inform us if there are any concerns.
31.3 Be consistent with your routines at home. This helps your child feel secure to start their schooling.
31.4 Avoid discussing your child with another adult in front of your child.

32.1 One calendar month written notice (email)
32.2 Parents will be held liable for the costs if less than one months’ notice is given.
32.3 Notice will not be accepted in November and December.
32.4 Mismo has the right to terminate any contract between parent/s and Mismo with immediate effect if point 1-29 are not adhere to that may directly affect the school or its teachers from being able to adequately or successfully carry out the schools aims, functions and objectives, OR in the event of any parent/s making use of any form of abusive, offensive, defaming, intimidating language and/or actions that may be directed at any staff and/or management and/or owners and /or learners of Mismo Edu-centre.

Supremacy of the constitution

1. The constitution shall supersede any other document that regulates the conduct of members, their relationship or purpose to confer authority to Mismo Edu Centre.

2. This constitution shall bind the staff and all other structures established by Mismo Edu Centre, whether under this constitution or any document purporting to confer such authority.
